Conversion copywriting

Your offer is good. Your words are losing the sale.

I rewrite the words people read in their first few seconds on your page, so more of the right ones stay, understand and act.

A short story about ten readers

Same bakery. Same cakes. Nine people want to know more.

An illustration of the idea with ten imaginary readers, not a measured result. Real results depend on your offer, audience and traffic.

Before, the headline read: “We bake fresh cakes for all occasions using quality ingredients.” In the illustration, two of ten readers stay interested. After the rewrite it reads: “The birthday cake they’ll still be talking about next year.” Nine of ten stay interested.

What’s wrong with it

Why the rewrite works

    Put a number on it

Every visitor who leaves confused is one you already paid to bring in.

Ads, search, referrals and years of reputation all end at one page. Enter your own figures to see what a small change at that page is worth.

    ₹
One extra customer in every 1,000 visitors ₹9,00,000

a year, or ₹75,000 a month, from people who were already on your page.

This is arithmetic on your numbers, not a forecast. Copy is one lever among several, and nobody honest can promise a specific lift. What I can show you is where the page loses people.

    Services

    Four jobs, done properly.

Every one is conversion copy: words with a job to do. Scope and price are agreed in writing before anything starts.

    How it works

Four steps, and very little of your time.

    1. Find the problem

Understand your audience, offer, positioning and current copy, and what customers say before they buy.

You: one conversation and access to what you have.

    2. Develop the message

Find the strongest value proposition and decide which objections the page must answer.

You: honest answers on what you can promise.

    3. Write and refine

Write the copy, explain each choice, and refine it through an agreed review round.

You: one set of consolidated feedback.

    4. Launch and learn

Help it go live and, where tracking exists, read the results honestly.

You: analytics access, if you have it.

    Samples

No borrowed logos. No invented results. Just the work.

These are speculative rewrites for fictional businesses, written to show how I think. Judge the thinking for yourself.

Speculative sampleFictional invoicing app for freelancers
    The problem

“All-in-one” and “modern” could describe any billing product. Nothing says who it’s for or what gets easier.

    The thinking

Freelancers don’t want invoicing. They want to be paid without chasing anyone. Lead with that.

Send a clear invoice. Polite reminders go out on their own until it’s settled.

    Speculative sampleFictional weekly meal-planning subscription
    The problem

Most welcome sequences thank, describe the company and start selling. By email three, the subscriber has forgotten why they signed up.

    The thinking

One job per email: set expectations, deliver a quick win, answer the doubts, show the habit, make the next step easy.

Welcome to our firm. We are a full-service accounting practice offering tax, audit and advisory services.

    Rewrite options

Tax season shouldn’t take over your business.

Know where the money’s going before the quarter ends.

    Three biggest weaknesses
    1. Opens with the firm, not the client. The reader’s problem never appears above the fold.
    2. Lists services, not outcomes. “Tax, audit, advisory” are categories, not reasons.
    3. No clear next step. The only thing to do is scroll.
    Priority order

Fix the headline first, because it decides whether anyone reads on. Add one clear action second. Then rebuild services around outcomes and answer what a new client worries about: industry knowledge, cost and time.

Speculative sampleFictional founder of a small software company
    The problem

Announcement posts talk about the company’s excitement. Nothing in them is about the reader, so they scroll past.

    The thinking

Start with the frustration the feature came from, say what changed in plain words, end with a question worth answering.

    After

Our customers kept exporting to a spreadsheet to answer one question: which clients are paying late? So we put that answer on the first screen. No export, no formulas. If you run a small business, what’s the one number you check every Monday?

      Questions

What people ask before they hire a copywriter.

Why not just use AI to write our copy?

A tool can produce words quickly. It can’t interview your customers, decide which claim your business can honestly stand behind, or know what to cut. That judgement is the work.

No tool guarantees better results, and neither does any writer. What I can do is make your message clearer, more specific and easier to test.

What if we already have a marketing team?

Then I work alongside them. Some teams want an outside read, which is what the audit gives them. Others hand me one defined piece so the team isn’t stretched. Either way, they get copy they can use directly.

How do you learn our business?

One conversation, then your existing material: current copy, product pages, customer emails, reviews, sales-call notes and competitors’ sites. I look for what customers say before they buy and what almost stopped them, and I use their words wherever I can.

What if we’re not sure what’s wrong with our website?

That’s the usual starting point, and the reason the Copy Clarity Audit exists. I read the page as a new visitor would and show you where it loses them, in order of importance.

How much does a project cost?

It depends on scope. A single page, an email sequence and a monthly content schedule are different jobs. You get a written price for the specific work before you commit. Nothing starts without it.

Can you work with our existing website and brand voice?

Yes. I write to fit the site you have and the voice you already use. If you don’t have a defined voice yet, I can help you write a short one down.

      Start here

Your next customer is already deciding whether to stay. Give them a reason to.
